Why guys used to be desperate, are becoming less desperate and gal are becoming more desperate?

Nature has its own unique way of balancing everything.

According to Fisher's principle, the most normal male-female ratio of a species should be 1:1. In the few of gender theories, the sex ratio of human population is commonly assumed to be 1.05:1.

In non-mathematical terms, this would imply that there's 105 males for every 100 females. If we put it in Singapore's context, assuming a population of 4 million, there would be 97561 single males who are not able to get a mate. Of course, I assumed that all the females are faithful to their mates and all the males are faithful to their mates as well.

For me, as I am neither extremely handsome or attractive, chances of me getting my butt into the pool of single males is rather high. Naturally, I will be worried and will be seeking out females like there's no tomorrow. That explains why guys are desperate.

You do realise that I did not mention about androgens like the infamous testosterone. According to the article on testosterone found in Wikipedia,

"In both men and women, testosterone plays a key role in health and well-being as well as in sexual functioning. Examples include enhanced libido, increased energy, increased production of red blood cells and protection against osteoporosis. On average, an adult human male body produces about forty to sixty times more testosterone than an adult female body, but females are, from a behavioral perspective (rather than from an anatomical or biological perspective), more sensitive to the hormone.[1] However the overall ranges for male and female are very wide, such that the ranges actually overlap at the low end and high end respectively."

This explains why there are sexually active aka horny females running around the streets.

Desperate guys, please take note of the following information. This information is specifically catered for you.

According to statistics from Geohive - Male/ Female distribution, 2007, the best place to be in is Russia Federation. They have a relatively low male:female ratio and they have the highest single female population, =)

Recently, I noticed an upward trend of females getting more desperate, go for visually/ physically less attractive males. This is of a great concern for us, especially unattractive males like me, =)

You must be wondering, why is this of great concern for unattractive males when the unattractive males is gaining the upper hand?

The reason: We must maximise our potentials even though we are at an advantage. The other reason being, it is extremely difficult to be extremely handsome, it is also as extremely difficult to be extremely ugly!

I know, it sounds wrong. Don't laugh!

According to CIA - World Factbook, 2008, the sex ratio of Singapore is 0.95 for aged 15-64 and the age structure for 15-64 is 76.5% (male 1,717,357/female 1,809,462). This works out to be 92105 females being single and unable to find a mate. Now now, who has to be desperate now?

If that's not concrete enough as evidence, according to Guardian UK, man-made chemicals blamed as many more girls than boys are born in Arctic. Let me show you the devastating effects that the chemicals have: In the communities of Greenland and eastern Russia monitored so far, the ratio was found to be two girls to one boy. In one village in Greenland only girls have been born. You say it is too far to be affecting you. Are you sure?: A paper published in the US National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences earlier this year said that in Japan and the US there were 250,000 boys fewer than would have been expected had the sex ratio existing in 1970 remained unchanged. The paper was unable to pin down a cause for the new excess of girls over boys.

Scientists believe a number of man-made chemicals used in electrical equipment from generators, televisions and computers that mimic human hormones are implicated. They are carried by winds and rivers to the Arctic where they accumulate in the food chain and in the bloodstreams of the largely meat- and fish-eating Inuit communities. Guys, please start throwing televisions and computers into our reservoirs and sea now! =D
